"This book is of great value for practical professionals working with other agencies....well written."
International Journal for Integrated Care, Vol 8, 2008.
"This volume offers a lifeline for those grappling with the complexities of partnership working and its consequences. Strongly informed by the available evidence, it provides a refreshingly sober and accessible appraisal of different types of outcomes and the range of evaluative approaches through which they can be captured."
Alison Petch, Director, Research in Practice for Adults
NB testimonial writer would like this all in bold lower case, with the 'for adults' also in italics

About This Book

Partnerships continue to be a prominent feature of health and social care policy and one which seems set to stay. Despite this, partnerships have not actually been demonstrated to improve service user outcomes. This book argues that, rather than a lack of an impact per se, this is a result of the massive challenge faced by partnership evaluations and suggests we need to effectively evaluate the outcomes of partnerships - or else the concept risks losing legitimacy.  The book provides an introduction to evaluation, outcomes and partnerships, summarising recent trends in policy and research, setting out useful frameworks and approaches and aiding policy makers and practitioners to more effectively evaluate partnerships. Short, accessible and designed for everyday use, the book is aimed at students, practitioners, managers and policy makers in health and social care.

Author Biography

Helen Dickinson is a researcher at the Health Services Management Centre, with an interest in evaluating the outcomes of health and social care partnerships. Recent research and consultancy work include producing research-based but accessible discussion papers for funders such as the Wanless Review of the funding of adult social care, the NHS Institute and the Care Services Improvement Partnership.
